Clive’s explanation of his Songwriting Workshop
Whether you're a seasoned songsmith or have never written a song before, this workshop is aimed at you. We will be working through a number of exercises designed to get you from initial inspiration to a finished song. Along the way we'll be looking at song structures, the editing process and tips and ideas to make your songwriting sessions more productive, original and fun. The exercises will be colloborative and we'll also take some time to listen to each other's efforts and exchange ideas and opinions.
I don't mind total beginners as far as the actual songwriting goes but instrumentalists need to be reasonably self contained. The workshop is not suitable for big gear set ups, drum kits etc and instruments that are not designed for accompanying singing, e.g. tin whistles, saxophones, etc.... Instrumentalist should be reasonably competent ... three chord strummers are fine as long as they can play in tune, in time and are capable of being quiet when asked!

Unless, of course, that is actually true.... in which case you don't need to be at my workshop!
I present this workshop annually at California Coast Music Camp and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop in the USA, and have also presented it at LIPA, Arts Centres in the UK and at various festivals around the world. If you are a musician looking to add lyrics to your tunes, or a poet who'd like to hear your words set to music, or even a little of both, come on down. Elton, meet Bernie...
